Hours : 4:00 pm – 12:30 am

Location : All positions are in person

Salary : $26.20/hour. If you are assigned an early morning or night shift assignment you will receive a differential of $.25 per hour.

Position Overview

The Evening Custodian has the responsibility of keeping our buildings functionally and aesthetically intact. The custodian ensures the buildings are clean, orderly, and well-maintained. To ensure success, the custodian will need to prioritize tasks and perform work with a commitment to excellence. This role also supports evening and weekend activities, assuring appropriate custodial support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness and sanitation of the assigned area.
• Keeps the building and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Performs routine maintenance activities.
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors, fixtures, and self.
• Collaborating with contract cleaning services.
• Refer to the Routine Maintenance Activities List for an overview of duties.

Education and/or Experience

• High school graduates are preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions, to write numbers and to count.
• Reading, and speaking knowledge of English.
• Previous experience in a school setting is preferred. On the job training received.

  • Dexterity necessary in use of fingers and hands.
  • Extensive pushing, pulling, turning, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, walking and standing.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds on a routine basis

Routine Maintenance Activities

• Cleans up after emergency spills and breakage.
• Cleans light fixtures.
• Cleans bathrooms and bathroom fixtures and ceramic tile.
• Collects and disposes of refuse.
• Dust mops floors.
• Dust and /or damp wipe all fixtures and furnishings.
• Dust ceilings.
• Dusts or cleans walls.
• Extraction cleans carpets.
• Hangs shower curtains and window drapes.
• Keeps the service closet and custodial cart clean and orderly.
• Keeps equipment clean and in working order.
• Moves furniture and equipment.
• Restocks paper and chemical supplies.
• Scrubs corridors with automatic scrubber.
• Scrubs and finishes floors.
• Shampoos carpets.
• Spot cleans walls.
• Spot mops floors.
• Spot cleans carpet.
• Spot finishes floors.
• Spot-checks bathrooms.
• Spot cleans ceilings.
• Spray buff or floors.
• Strip and finish floors.
• Vacuum vents.
• Vacuum rugs, runners and carpets.
• Clean trash cart.
• Clean windows inside and outside.
• Wet mops floors.
• Other duties as assigned.
